MICHAEL RIESE
Occupation: District Attorney Education and Qualifications: Four years ago, I promised you that I would be a working District
Attorney, and I would do everything I could to keep our community safe. I promised to protect the rights of victims, witnesses
and the accused
Those promises remain the focus of every person m the District Attorney's office every day
Since you elected me District Attorney, this office has filed and prosecuted more that 2000 cases a year,
a remarkable increase, and I am proud to say that it was done at no additional taxpayer's cost. This office has forged close
ties with other law enforcement agencies. Working together, we have made Del Norte County a safer place to live, work and
raise our families.
I am proud of this office's record during my tenure. We have returned over $45,000 to our local merchants
through our bad check program. We have vigilantly prosecuted child molesters and drug dealers. We have continually won grant
funding to curb domestic violence We have earned a new level of respect that has been earned through hard work, integrity
and quite frankly, toughness,
