STATEMENT OF CANDIDATE FOR SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE

WILLIAM H, FOLLETT

Occupation: Superior Court Judge

Education and Qualifications: Six years ago Del Norte voters entrusted me as their Superior Court Judge. I've worked hard since then to honor that trust.

I've strive to ensure that people appearing in court are treated fairly and with dignity. Although we have only two judges, our heavy caseload justifies more than three judges under state standards. I've tried to balance the need to process hundreds of cases weekly with the patience needed to listen and be fair

We've improved court services we've opened a self-help center for litigants who can't afford attorneys. To help families in crisis, we've hired a full-time court mediator, established dependency drug courts. And created an innovative program to coordinate community services for the most seriously impacted family court litigants I've established a domestic violence workgroup and worked with CASA advocates to protect our children.

State law now mandates treatment and prohibits jail for most first-time methamphetamine offenders, so I've implemented strict drug testing to force abstinence as a condition to continuing treatment and avoiding jail.

This election presents a clear choice in substance and style. I offer the experience, stability and judicial temperament our community deserves. Please vote to re-elect Bill Follett Superior Court Judge.
